About inFamous

In 1997, a small group that was intertwined with the computer geniuses at Microsoft cut their ties and founded "Sucker Punch Production", a video game company that first debuted with the release of their first hit "Rocket: robot on wheels" for the Nintendo 64. Over the years they have put out a number of action games but slowly faded into the background of new companies and old giants, until now.

The release of their newest action game "Infamous" proves sucker punch lives up to its name. Just when you thought you can count them out, Infamous wins IGN's best action game for the year.

Though the story line has been heard before, Infamous is loaded with originality. It's about a man named Michael Cole, an urban explorer living in Empire city. Disaster strikes Empire, mutating so many of the people in the city that it's quarantined off. The drug dealers and criminals seize the opportunity to organize and overthrow everyone, calling themselves "the reapers". Your character "Cole" is an Electric charged superhero, and the only evidence of order left.

The graphics are smooth and realistic, with very little noticeable flaws. The game environment is like a mix of Resident Evil and Grand theft auto. The sound quality is excellent, not disappointing anyone looking for that real HD experience. They designed it with free roam in the city, which doesn't really set them apart from other games in their genre, but where they raise the bar is the level of interaction. All the metal in the city conducts electricity, it's not just "bad guys and good guys" but also pedestrians that are also interactive threw out the game on many levels. Any one of you arsenal of moves and grabs are useable on any part of the background, as well as objects and structures.

Given Coles previous experience a lot of thought went into the character movement. His detailed climbing and attacks will add new words to your vocabulary like "vertical combat", and give new meaning to old ones like " duck and cover". Though his superpower will probably remind you of Fear, his climbing, scaling, and overall maneuverability will be like nothing you ever seen in the past.

The original release date for this game was June, but because of customer demand that date was moved up to April 2009, and the fans were not disappointed. One month later it has already won 3 awards with more expected in the future. There is no word yet on a sequel, but after this it's safe to say that gamers everywhere can't wait until the next time they're sucker punched.
