About R.O.O.T.S.

Hip-hop artist Flo Rida released his second album, R.O.O.T.S., on March 30, 2009. The new album features many hip-hop tracks that will have everyone up and dancing and singing along. R.O.O.T.S. is an acronym for "Route Of Overcoming The Struggle". It describes and reflects the challenges and trials Flo Rida faced before he rose to the top and released hit songs and signed contracts with Atlantic Records and Poe Boy Entertainment. Production of the album is credited to Dr. Luke, J Rock, and DJ Montay. The new album features many well-known hot artists such as Timbaland, Wyclef Jean, Nelly Furtado, Akon, and Ne-Yo.

The album's popular and catchy first lead single "Right Round," featuring Kesha, sold more than 636,000 digital copies in the first week it was released. It beat the record for the most first week single sales in the history of digital release of songs. The previous record was set by Flo Rida's previous number 1 hit from his first album, "Low," which featured T-Pain. "Right Round" also spent six weeks in a row as number 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 list and has gone double platinum. The song incorporates sounds from "You Spin Me Round" by Dead or Alive.

"Finally Here" is the perfect song to kick start the album and reflects on Flo Rida's life. The track "Shone" is a recent single that features Pleasure P, another artist from Miami. It did well on the Billboard Hot 100, ranked number 7, and has a hot music video that was produced in Miami. The song, "Jump" featuring Nelly Furtado is a very intense dance song. "Gotta Get It (Dancer)" is another very energetic dance track with innovative sound and will be among the favorites of this album. "Sugar" is the more recent released song and it features Wynter Gordon. The song includes a clip of Blue (Da Ba Dee) by Eiffel 65 that gives the song an extra pop mix. The title song, "R.O.O.T.S." is a great track to end the album and features a modern hip-hop ambience with smooth rapping. The bonus track, "Yayo" features label-mates and usual collaborators including Rick Ross, Billy Blue, Brisco, Bred, Ace Hood, Pitbull, Ball Greezy, and Red Eyezz.

R.O.O.T.S. has gained a lot of popularity just like his first album, Mail on Sunday. Mail on Sunday made it up to number 4 on the US charts and R.O.O.T.S. is currently ranked number 8.
